My Loves

These are my sweet boys, the ones I spend my days with. My big boy is Chase Robert and he is 8. Wow eight, time you are a thief! The little guy is our long awaited Kruse William and he is 14 months. He is our wild climber. He already jumps outta the crib (I kid you not) and it's lowered all the way down already...These boys are my world, I love them more than cake. And you all know how much I love cake!

Jungle/Monkey Cake

My bestie's little boy was turning one, and he loves monkeys. So I came up with this cute jungle/monkey design. It is three layers of chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, yum! I made both of the little monkeys out of modeling chocolate and the little bananas out of fondant. It was actually my husbands idea to spell out his name with the bananas, cute!

Mosaic Tile Cake

This cake was for my sister-in-law Kristin's wedding, same one I made the dessert table for. It was a labor of love, let me tell you! My husband, my son and I were also in the wedding. So needless to say, I was a busy lady. I started this cake the Thursday before the big day. It was going great...until I dropped the bottom tier on my kitchen floor! It was completely done, ready to assemble no less. So I had to bake and decorate another one. By this time its Friday afternoon. I ducked out long enough too go to the rehearsal then got right back to working on this baby. After pulling an all nighter, I got it finished just under the wire. With enough time to shower and make it to my hair appointment!! But, after all the craziness, I think it turned out great!

100 Days of school cake

My oldest son, Chase, had a 100 days of school party. His teacher, the wonderful Mrs. Adams asked me to make the cake. "Nothing fancy, just make a little cake for the class" yeah, ok...I always go overboard, there was A Lot of cake left. But the kiddos loved it. (Just ignore the screen shot photo, lol).

Its great for friends and family stuff but I kept missing lots of posts in the business page ( uh...not good for business, ya know) Anyway, lots of past cakes to come!

So last week I had a request for a Lego cake for a little guy turning 6. He also requested that one of the layers be rice krispy treat, yummo! I think it turned out quite adorable if I do say so myself! Stay tuned another practice cake coming soon:-)

Cakes!

So I made a couple of yummy things this past week. First was a white cake with lemon curd filling (I heart lemon curd) and lemon butter cream. I was kinda thinking Bollywood when I decorated this one, idk, it was just a practice cake.
Then I had a baby shower for an old friend of mine. I made it to match the nursery bedding (that was there theme) I also made some cute matching cupcakes. It was hard not to eat one!
I must also include that while I was doing all this baking.....My lovely 5 year old son DESTROYED the house, I'm not kidding here. There were toys everywhere!
I guess that's what happens when I leave him to his own devices.

Summer sure does fly by!

Oh my goodness, I have been sooo busy! My niece and nephew were visiting us from Colorado for the last two weeks. I love, love, loved having them here and so did my little stinker Chase. He liked having live in buddies to play with everyday. They are 11 and 15 and Halle had her birthday while they were here. So of course I made her a special cake:-) Jesse is a riot! He is totally hilarious and kept us in stitches the whole 15 days. We did so many things during their visit, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, went to see Toy Story 3, rode go-karts, family dinners, tubing and wake boarding, and lots of swimming and laughing. I of course took Tons of pictures of their visit, so without further ado...

Jenny's 30th Birthday Party

My bestie Jen turned 30 (before me I'll add, hehe) Her hubby and I planned a surprise party for her at our lake house. Oh it was a LOT of work to get ready, but it turned out great and we managed to keep it a surprise too. I made a cupcake tower and individual sundaes in canning jars with toppings on the side (they we're a hit) We did boat rides, tubing, lots of eating and had a campfire too. So Happy 30th my best bud, Love ya!

Finished Dresser

So here is the finished dresser. It took 4 coats of the Heirloom White spray paint to cover it nicely. I then distressed the edges with some sandpaper. It is currently living in my kitchen, I think I'm gonna turn it into my new island.

Antique Dresser

So lately I'm in LOVE with antique furniture. I got this little beauty from my mother-in-law (she's a gem!) I love its lines, and cute little feet. However.....it has 4 layers of paint on it!!! I plan on painting it also but I just didnt see adding yet another coat. So I'm stripping it first (I have never done this before)
I went to Lowes for some citristrip and a scraper....I wish they sold sanity.... I must say, its not as bad as I thought it would be. Quite easy in fact. The side panels are all cracked along the bottom so I got some luan to replace them. I also got new knobs ( I'm not the pink kind of girl) Here she is so far, stay tuned for the finished product!

My sister-in-law Kristin is getting married and her bridal shower was this past Sunday. I chose to do a "dessert buffet" kinda thing (my first attempt) and I must say it turned out wonderfully. The cake was 3 different flavors choc/creamcheese, rasp/lemon and peanutbutter/ganache. They were all yummy! I also made dipped pretzels, teacup and teapot sugar cookies, mini canning jar cheesecakes and jars of strawberry whoppers. The shower was in my mother-in-laws beautiful garden so I chose pastel and flower like colors. For a pretty backdrop I found these amazing vintage garden prints and turned them into a flag garland (super easy, you can do it too) Here's the final product
